What Is Love? #WinterABC24

One of the greatest pleasures in life is love.

Everyone and i mean Everyone has attempted to define what love is.

I could ahead and say anyone can describe love according to their experience. 

Iam a woman, daughter, wife mother. I have been loved and in love.

We tend to elevate people in status because of their gifts, talents but never because of love.

Iam honestly surprised at how quick people refer to 1 Corinthians 13 as a standard for love.

It magnifies our falleness , it quickly reveals how far we fall short.

We seem to know what love ought to look like, we are drawn to 1 Corinthians but we also despise it, we keep a distance from it because it demonstrates our lack of love.

We are a people desiring , coveting even a kind of love that we are not willing to lay our lives down for but rather looking for who shall lay their life down for you.

We are one of the most self centered generation i know, it speaks volumes on how we treat our very own family, friends.

We carry labels of toxic, trauma without fully embracing forgiveness, extending grace , real love.

One thing is true. The kind of Love we seek is God and God’s love is perfect which is why we need him if we are to love in any capacity in this world. 

Love is not what is displayed on your big or small screens.

Love is not  the big gestures to show you off 

Love is not the script of your neighbor or friend….

If you asked me..What Love is;

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away.

Love is doing more than wishing.

Love is doing daily 

Love is impossible unless helped by the Lord.

Thanks be to God that his love for us is greater than our love for him.

May he strengthen us to pursue love in the way he continually reveals himself to us.
